ADHD guinea pig
I finally went to a psychiatrist to treat my “I’m 100% sure I have ADHD or something like that but professional assessment is expensive as fuck so I can’t prove it” and got prescribed some meds. I’m officially joining the “I’m mentally ill and I have a blog” club.
The psychiatrist’s opinion: strong suspicion of ADHD, or a weak form of narcolepsy. Exactly what I thought as well.
Got prescribed Edronax, aka Reboxetine which I’m not really sure of. Almost nobody seems to speak positively of it, and Pfizer is hiding some concerning studies of the drug.
It seems to do nothing about depression (the main thing it’s supposed to “cure”), but is used off-label as a treatment for ADHD.
I started the treatment 3 days ago. Even though the drug is supposed to work after 2-3 weeks I felt the effects right away. But only the negative ones.
At first, weird dreams. Weird as fuck. For the past few days I haven’t been dreaming about various situations and random scenarios like I always do, but the only thing I remember from my dreams are walls of text. I am dreaming of literal walls of text. This is all I see in my dreams. Text, then I wake up, go back to sleep, text.
Fucked up.
Also, in the first 2 days my balls constantly ached, as well as my abdomen. But this was expected.
What was NOT expected was the spontaneous ejaculation that happened right after me taking a piss. What the fuck. I had no sensation of it and I wasn’t aware it occurred for a while. Once I realized I freaked out. This wasn’t mentioned on the package leaflet. Then I went to read some studies about it. I only found 3-4 of them and it seems that it isn’t known what causes this to happen.
Case reports concerning spontaneous ejaculation without sexual arousal with the use of other noradrenergic reuptake inhibitors were described with the use of milnacipran [4], zotepine [5], and nefazodone [6]. Spontaneous ejaculation occurred after micturition [6] and defecation [4], with a frequency varying from once per 2 or 3 weeks [4] to several [5] to seven times daily. Some guys ejaculate even while taking a shit. And as often as 7 times daily. Imagine how bad and alien it must feel.
This made me realize how much this drug actually does to the brain. It is literally changing some bodily functions and it isn’t even understood how and why it works. This is why I feel like a guinea pig.
I am also experiencing some random shivering, this isn’t that bad but not exactly comforting either.
No positive effects have kicked in yet. Wondering what happens next.
